Privacy Policy

The short version

We don't require an account, we don't ask for your name or email, and we don't store the addresses you look up.

Addresses you enter

When you check a roof, the address is sent to our server, which forwards it to Google's Geocoding and Solar APIs to retrieve rooftop data. We do not write it to a database and we do not retain it after your request completes. Google processes it under its own privacy policy.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Google Cloud) records standard request logs including IP address, timestamp and user agent. We use these only to detect abuse and to keep costs under control. They are retained for 30 days.

Advertising

This site is free because it carries advertising, served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and may use them to personalise what you see based on your previous visits to this and other sites.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

You will be asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set. That prompt is Google's certified consent platform, which offers Consent, Do not consent and Manage options — refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and refusing is respected. You can change your answer at any time through the privacy settings link in the advertising prompt.

If you are elsewhere, including the US and Canada

Advertising cookies are set when the page loads, without a prompt first. We are telling you that plainly rather than burying it. You are not without options — you can:

Turn off ad personalisation at Google My Ad Center.
Opt out of third-party vendors' cookies at optout.aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org.
Use your browser's cookie controls, or a content blocker. Nothing on this site tries to detect or defeat one, and the roof checker works normally with ads blocked.

If you are a California resident, or in another US state with similar law, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. The Google links above are the practical way to exercise that here.

What advertising never touches: the address you type into the roof checker. It is sent to our server and to Google's mapping APIs to look up your roof, and is not stored, not logged against you, and not shared with advertisers.

Your rights

Because we don't hold personal data tied to you, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold something about you, contact us and we'll look into it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes.
